vege garden....

Well our vege patch is coming along nicely! We've been munching on fresh lettuce regularly, though we weren't impressed to discover that one had disapeared overnight! Just a stump was left remaining, and that got eaten too soon after! Grrrr..... We've had a few yummy little strawberries. but we've got issues with ants eating them, and i have no idea what to do about that....

The cherry tomatoes have really taken off, taking up a lot more space than i thought they would, and i discovered yesterday that we have a few tiny tomatoes appearing! I spent yesterday afternoon in the glorious sun, training the tomatoes up the trellis, and pinching out the laterals, and uncovered a few little bunches of tiny toms, smaller than my thumbnail at the mo...

The silverbeet & broccoli are growing well, though for some reason they do seem to be staggered in their growth even though i planted them all out at the same time.. the ones closest to the orange tree are doing best, though i can't figure why, maybe the soil is better there from years of decayed oranges??

We've got our first little broccoli head too! Its only about the size of a plum at the moment, but is perfectly formed....

I've started reading The Square Foot Garden, which has got me all inspired, i can't wait to clear some more space to add to our patch!
