well, not quite... we still need to rebuild the steps & the gate, and mask the underneath & the joists, and a few other finishing touches... i plan to plant a grapevine & train it round the underneath :-)
but considering the old deck was bowed, warped & buckled, had huge gaps in the decking, absolutely huge gaps between the joists, had rotten posts that weren't even attached to the concrete footings (!!! some even had packers shoved under in an attempt to make them level.. which didn't work), and a handrail on the verge of collapse... *deep breath* ... this is a vast improvement!! even in it's unfinished state it is strong, safe, clean & much prettier! :-D
(and yes, after successfully mountaineering over 3 of the 4 steps, and immediately after the photo was taken, the baby slipped down & wedged himself between the 3rd & 4th steps... oops.)
