happy new years!

We've only been home a few days, and we're busy prepping for our 2nd xmas day & lexi's birthday this weekend, AND i have a zillion photos to upload of everything we've been doing of late (which on dialup takes an age to do)..

SOOooo...

you'll just have to sit back & wait, relax, and check out how our garden is going in the meantime.. ok?

mid-december-

our 1st full basket of home grown produce - beans, peas, lettuce, spinach beet, kale, strawberries & a beetroot!

snow peas

today-

potato flowers

dozens of cherry tomatoes to come

capsicums

oxheart tomatoes

an odell's lettuce

spinach beet

yellow empress sunflowers

cosmos (i think.. might be zinnia though) complete with bumble bee!

zinnia (i think.. might be cosmos though)

corn

heavy heads of quinoa

companion planting - onions, leeks, garlic and lots of calendula!

a red onion

heartsease

yellow pole beans, we've had a few that are around 1' long!

not bad for the little pile of rocks we started off with huh?

sharon the heartsease is another companion flower, i can't remember them all but i know it's good for alliums! it's hidden behind our mass of calendula with the onions & garlic...

Hey, that all looks great! So what did you do this year to keep the pile of rocks away?

Nova said...

lol nikki we sieved them all out & gave them away on freecycle!! the soil here is vastly better than in our front garden too - that was 40cm deep solid clay rocks - the back was just soil with rocks mixed all through it ;)
