Managed to snaffle a playsilk!
And dyed it!
For the unfamiliar, a playsilk is a piece of silk for, well, playing with! It can be a princess or superhero cape, a flag, a billowing sail, part of a tent, a troubled sea, a picnic blanket, a baby carrier, even bundled up to be the baby! it can be anything that your imagination can stretch to :-D
I dyed it using icing colouring gels & copious amounts of vinegar (such a glamorous activity) and had a go at doing some tie-dyeing.. had no idea how it would come out, it's a wee bit 'muddy' but i do like the fact that there isn't a particularly defined pattern to it :-) The colours are a bit washed out in the pic, but its a nice shimmery mix of pale blues, purples & violet, and a hint of pink... it's prettier in real life anyway, you'll just have to trust me!
and while i was in the garden....
spot the cucumber! it's one of four on there at the mo, all about the same size as you'd find in the shop :-) we ate another one last night in our salad, very yum!
and just a pic of a couple of our lettuces, cos they were looking pretty in the sun :-)
day before yesterday i sowed the seeds for some more lettuces, some broccoli, kale, beans, carrots (in a deep trough of potting mix, fingers crossed they work!), parsley, basil, oregano & coriander! Over the next few days i'm hoping to get some spinach, peas & lupins in too...

yum! we have *one* lonely cucumber out of the tons I planted. It is very very munted looking but hopefully still edible.
